CCTV

What price do drivers put on their safety, their lives, and their living? why are some councils not doing more to get drivers to invest in their safety? Councils can put in for funding. There are groups out there that will look at finding funding. There are more Councils than ever now going down the road of CCTV. The trade needs to stop thinking that this is a way for  Councils to watch (Big Brother) drivers. that is not the case. this is how I understand it;  if the Council, for example, get a complaint about you on 10th of any month, that you did something that the passenger did not like, let say the passenger told the council you touch their leg, but you say you did not, well the CCTV will put an end to it before it starts. Some of you will say "I have a dash cam" , well if you driver a taxi you cant have one legally.

now I am not saying that driver always do what passengers say they done, with out CCTV its your word against the passenger. think of your family, think of your earnings, think about you saftey as it could be your name we will be reading in the paper or the PHTM.

All WE WANT IS FOR YOU TO BE SAFE

I was put back last week there are some drivers out there who don't know their rights if any of the above is you just call or email and we will tell you you do not need to be alone

Last Day of October 2023 where is the time going I would like to make a Plea for Wolverhampton City Council Driver to get in touch for free Membership to the first 20 to join, will be free we would like private hire and hackney drivers to join our association as we truly believe we can help Our main rep as been a Hackney Driver for over 30 years and a trade rep since 2009 and Charles would like to help You with any issues that you may have.

This association is and always be for its members to help them, through what me be hard times and worrying times.

well, it's almost November at 2 am on the 28/29th of October Saturday Night/Sunday the Clocks go Back 1hr.  We are still having issues with Wolverhampton City Council and our Members down there.

what storeys are there Taxi Stuck in flood council could remove Bridge, Telford P/H Drivers find £2000 for Illegull Plying, new rules in Somerset could push Drivers into Debt,

what will the Councils think of in 2024 we ate to think.

We have now two more Legaul Teams

and my very good friend Mr Dave Lawrie NPHTA.

We see that Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham is urging locals not to use taxis licensed by a council in the West Midlands.

People never cease to amaze me In a past life I was a Traffic warden now that job was an eye-opener 

and I was reminded of that this last weekend I was asked to do a job by our members now whether or not drivers like it most, For most ranks you cannot stop pick up or drop off and can end up with a ticket of arrond£30.

now it's always your fault, not the driver who stopped No one asked him to stop there and the temper of some of the drivers well that is to be believed Well it is simpal don,t stop on a taxi Rank.

If people do not want to do a job why don't they just say so, and not let people just hang on, and on, and on, I have wasted a good 8 or 9 weeks just waiting for a clutch to be put in my Rover.

However, there seems light at the end of the tunnel  I was told about this service centre on my doorstep they seem very nice, and helpful, We are very impressed up to now and hope it carries on like that any it book in for the 18th sorry there is not more to report this time so.

Bolton Council has not agreed to MLS Stage Two so the status quo stays, which means Private Hires have no age limit at all, Hackney Carriages is 15 years off, and we have put an objection in about that and is being looked into.

The cyclist is Critically Injured we hope he will make a full recovery

Taxi Drivers In Greater Manchester Registered 80 Miles away, 

This story has the trade up in arms One city has over 30,000 vehicles licensed but not all working in that city but working every ware other than where they are licensed 

It killing the local trade it has to stop Hopefully Council and government will do something about it sooner rather than later your local driver or suffering

Well the news is still dome and glom crime commissioner calls for CCTV, and not before time I say you can read all about it on our news page, more attacks on drivers around the UK, and some drivers saying the trade does not need CCTV let them drivers tell the families of those drivers who are hurt or Killed that is why a lot of drivers have stopped doing nights we don't want to hear about any more drivers being attacked working providing a public service.

along with a former taxi driver has been ordered to pay nearly £2,000 after driving a hackney Carriage without a valid driver's Licence

In a report to Hyndburn Council's cabinet meeting to recommend the upper age limit be removed.

Who out there remembers, Tommy Cooper, Les Dawson, Ken Dodd, Norman Evans (over the Garden Wall), Freddie Starr, Spike Milligan, Willam Hartley (Carry on Sargent), George Formby, Maks Miller, Arthur Hines, Norman Wisdom it was a few years ago now but I meet Norman Wisdom at Manchester Airport very nice Man, Morecambe and Wise, Cannon and Ball, Bob Monkhouse, Frank Carson, Arthur Askey, Jimmy Clitheroe, Larry Grayson (Shut that Door), Paul O'Grady, and many many more.

All the stars we have lost  and in our opinion will never be replaced, We may do more of this again  

Very Sad to think we will never see the like again.

yesterday went to Pierhead Well just facedown to see the Lancaster Bomer  and two spitfires, a swordfish flypast, and Seafire plant files down the river Mersey  as the City marks the Battle of the Atlantic Anniversary, you can see all the photos and there are a few in the Liverpool Echo 27/05/2023​

Well did you all o your civic duty on May the 4th and now we are all better off from it? it's always very quiet at this time of the year just before and just after voting we live and work in Liverpool and we are pleased to say we got through the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 ok lots and lots of people, cars, couches, about did anyone go let us know what was it like did you enjoy it they were selling doughnuts for £7 pound we were told all good things must come to the end. 

Next week we have a film crew starting I can't say what they are filming as I don't know I only live there

as long as we can get out because all the Annual Council Meetings have started and so have we

Sorry it has been a few days since we Blogged to be very honest with you we have not had much time at times you get it like that anyway.

on our news page have you read about the alleged, Allegations were raised during a full council meeting
A senior Boston councillor has reportedly been caught on camera verbally attacking a taxi driver due to political differences, it has been claimed. well, we hope if proven he will be removed as a Cllr because if it was the other way around the driver would be well gone now.

why we are talking about councils what about  Wolverhampton Council, Taxi drivers across a city have been given extra help for protecting themselves Wolverhampton Council is helping to protect taxi drivers by providing personal safety alarms in every vehicle and safety guides for every driver.
The Secured by Design alarms, part of a national police security initiative, have a powerful 140 decibel siren and will help drivers raise the alarm if they feel threatened or unsafe.
The alarms will be rolled out across the council’s fleet of 20,000 licensed vehicles as drivers attend their annual inspections.
To offer further protection, the authority’s regulatory committee has approved the option of installing driver safety enclosures which separate drivers from passengers.
In addition, the council has worked in partnership with West Midlands Police to produce a ‘Safety Tips for Taxi and Private Hire Drivers’ guide.

thank you to my mate from Manchester Airport for seeing me today hope the repair on your cab gets done ok.

We have a few members in Liverpool but find it very difficult to break into the cab trade why we don't know as we walk through Liverpool City Center how lucky we are living in Liverpool doing the thing

we like doing our best to help the taxi trade when we do we feel a sense of being part of the trade here

how much better can it get sitting on the front whacking the river and the ships come in thinking that there may be someone not in the union not in any association who just needs some help or advise

Passengers and what you can say and not say not very much these days lot of drivers or going a little too far in what they talk to passengers about my friends you have to be so careful, keep away from, have you got a boyfriend,  is there anyone at home, how much do you get paid, when was the last time you had sex, you look very nice, can I have your phone number, and the list goes on if the passengers ask you anything watch what you say.

Too many drivers are losing their Badges over this most don't do it unintendedly so watch yourself

I have a bit of a bad habit when I do scans I don't name them mainly over time I get the shock of my life

Wednesday I had to look up a scan so clicked on scans oh dear there were a few none of them named

It took a few hours to get through them and rename them never again.
